This home show centers poetry as both catalyst and companion—sometimes moving in direct collaboration with choreography, and at other times standing alone as a powerful, embodied voice within the larger arc of the evening.
Through shared presence, timing, and intention, poets and choreographers activate stories of burning away, becoming, and rising—inviting the audience into moments of reflection, release, and collective witnessing.

InPulse Dance Company
"The Journey: Breaking Barriers "
Presented by Converging Arts Columbus, The Journey: Breaking Barriers is a new multidisciplinary stage production presented in collaboration with Ohio Humanities. The work features Columbus-based artists, dancers, spoken word poets, musicians, and vocalists, and highlights the ongoing fight for educational equity in the United States. The production will tell the lesser-known stories of those who courageously challenged segregation in schools, focusing on the Lincoln School Marchers in Hillsboro, Ohio, and the broader resistance to integration in Columbus. Despite the landmark Brown v. Board of Education ruling in 1954, many Ohio communities resisted desegregation into the 1960s and 70s. This production will preserve and amplify these critical stories, allowing them to resonate with today’s audiences.
The Journey: Breaking Barriers builds on the success of The Journey: Civil Rights, which won the 2023 Greater Columbus Arts Council Columbus Makes Art Excellence Award, and will continue the tradition of using the arts to tell underrepresented stories.

"What We Carry"
"What We Carry" is an evening of dance that lays bare the weight and wonder of being human. Through three distinct yet interconnected works, this program explores the emotional, spiritual, and moral forces we hold in our bodies—grief and hope, shame and desire, love and memory—and asks what must be carried, what can be released, and what ultimately transforms us.
In Tight to the Skin, the pulse of community becomes a lifeline. Dancers move as one, unraveling the beauty and burden of human connection—fierce, tender, and unyielding. ReBorn turns the focus inward, tracing a solo journey of reckoning and renewal, where every gesture is a step toward liberation. And in Deadly Sins, the shadows take center stage, inviting us to confront the vices and vulnerabilities we’ve been taught to hide—revealing that truth, not judgment, is where redemption begins.
Together, these works form a raw, honest portrait of resilience. "What We Carry" honors the complex truths we move with—and the possibility of healing through movement itself.
